With the introduction of the Siya, Oticon found a way of producing a powerful yet affordable hearing aid that delivers superb sound quality to users.
Released in 2018, the Siya is the first hearing aid in the essentials category – behind premium, advanced, and intermediate on the technology level scale – to feature 2.4 GHz Bluetooth® low energy connectivity.
What does that mean? It means the Siya offers a rare combination of affordability, superb wireless connectivity and excellent sound quality, not to mention an extensive array of styles and accessories. The hearing aids connect wearers to many Bluetooth devices, including computers, smart TVs and smartphones. Oticon’s ConnectClip turns the Siya into a wireless headset, letting you make hands-free phone calls or stream music from your phone.
Manatee Ear Center in Bradenton, Florida has the Siya – including its rechargeable batteries – starting at just $1,200. After simply charging overnight, the batteries provide a day’s worth of power so you don’t have to worry about always having disposable batteries on hand.
Retailing for a fraction of the cost of other quality hearing aids, the Siya brings more power to more people than ever before. Its Velox™ platform makes the high-resolution sound processing 50 times faster than ever featured previously in the essentials category. Its speed is fast enough for the Noise Reduction LX feature to reduce noise between spoken words. Additional noise reduction methods include wind noise management for breezy outdoor conditions and transient noise management to reduce the discomfort of sudden loud bursts of noise.
To improve hearing capabilities regardless of environment, the Siya automatically switches between modes as it adapts to different locations. This quick transitioning ensures for a more comfortable listening experience, even in the face of challenging background noise.
Oticon President Ole Asboe Jørgensen said it was important for the company to make these features accessible to more people with hearing loss. “To date, 2.4GHz Bluetooth® low energy connectivity, for instance to modern smartphones, has been an elite feature of Opn™. We believe that in this modern age, this connectivity level should be enjoyed by all hearing aid users, which is why we are especially delighted to make this premium feature available to the users of our new essentials hearing aid family. This, in addition to the excellent listening experience that users of Siya can enjoy, is just one of the many steps we have taken to ensure that our hearing aid in the essentials category enables users to get out there and make the most of every moment.”
