Hearing
Don’t you think it is time to hear!
Hearing has several purposes that are useful in everyday life and can improve quality of life for individuals. About 10% of the population is affected by some sort of hearing impairment. Anyone can experience hearing loss, however it is more prominent in persons over 60 years of age, which is related to the aging process. To help you better understand hearing, hearing loss, and solutions, we have complied some useful information.
How We Hear/Hearing Test
It is important to have two functioning ears. Our ears act as radar antennas allowing us to differentiate sounds, noises, and speech and to identify what direction those signals came from. There are a variety of ways to determine if you are experiencing hearing loss or to test your hearing. Hearing loss includes ringing in the ears, difficulty hearing women and children’s voices, and much more. If you are interested in how you hear or to take a quick hearing test please click here.
Binaural Hearing
Binaural hearing allows patients that have experienced hearing loss in both ears to localize sounds and permits the brain to select the most important sound, eliminating background noise and the quality of spaciousness or high fidelity of sounds. Tinnitus and Hearing Loss
Tinnitus is noise that starts within the ear instead of your surroundings. A study discovered that tinnitus and hearing loss have a correlation and only 1 out of every 123 tinnitus patient did not experience tinnitus.
